How could re-framing be used to win over key groups to your cause?

The global warming debate, especially in the US, has become very polarised. But could re-framing be used to change that and return to a more united position?

Christain evangelicals have been courted relentlessly and very successfully by President Trump. This significant group of the US population is much more likely to reject the existence of man-made climate change.

The response from liberals, centrists and others, who accept the science on global warming, is too often to deride the evangelicals as being stupid or even deranged. The problem is this does nothing to engage with those people, let alone persuade them to change their minds.

We believe liberals, centrists and environmental campaigners should stop attacking evangelicals and start talking in a language that will engage them.

For example, one could start by pointing out that burning coal is a sin as it's desecrating god's amazing creation. Changing the language in such a way seems like a small shift, but the re-framing it leads to could have a significantly positive impact on politics, policies, and thus the global climate.
